Join our Dubai Ambassadors for the latest afikra Dubai Book Club on Sunday 29th September at Niche!

We will be reading 'The Arsonists City' by the wonderful Hala Alyan, and discussing the story, themes and other topics in the book (and inspired by the book). We encourage you to read the book ahead of the event, but you can still enjoy and take part even if you don't, or if you don't finish it.

You can find the book at many stores both online and offline within the UAE.

We can't wait to see you there - spaces are limited so please RSVP!

FAQ

  • afikra Salon is a salon-style event where members of the community present on cultural and historical topics they are curious about from the Arab world. The purpose of each evening is to bring together a community of like-minded individuals and have a fruitful conversation about things we don't know much about.

  • Absolutely. If you want to invite anyone, please have them RSVP so we can keep track of who is coming.

  • Of course! Everyone is welcome!!

  • We don't announce the topics beforehand but they vary widely. They are based on a curiosity that the presenter had related to Arab histories and cultures. The presentations are about showcasing and sharing what they found after spending some time looking into their curiosity.
